Book Details

Sissy is the sixth in the series and is a serious selection for the silliest. Written by Trevor with assistance from Sue, this book follows a trip into the Simpson Desert with the Summit Trax 4WD Club. Daughter Toni joined Trevor on the trip and the emphasis on the “S”s became a silly aside to the sand hills and sunshine of the Simpson. Sissy and her company travelled up the Birdsville Track and camped for a couple of days at Birdsville before embarking on the crossing of the desert. Three nights in the desert and a stay at the steamy springs at Dalhousie, where Sissy enjoyed a simmering swim and soak with seriously good company. Once again this is written through the eyes of the puppet Sissy, and parents and children are encouraged to use a map to trace the trip and places visited.

Sissy is named after the late Sigrid (Sissy) Sisolefsky the great grandmother of the writers grandchildren, Boyd and Tara de Jong. The children of the Birdwood Primary School, Out of School Hours Care, Birdwood, South Australia, kindly provided the excellent illustrations.

A seriously sensational sixth sequel to the series!

Have fun with Sissy!
